ADIRONDACK MAN

© 2008 Rob Pulsifer

He was born in a log cabin mountain home

Just below that snow-capped Cascade Dome

He grew to be a massive Adirondack Man

And he learned to swing his axe just as hard as he can

Daddy gave him land down the road a-ways

And with his two big hands he cleared himself a space

And he built himself

His own Adirondack Home

Married himself a little backwoods girl

Sharpest little shooter in the whole wide world

They popped a couple puppies, just as cute as could be

And raised that mountain family living wild and free

Don’t be messin’ with a mountain man

Greedy Politician better run while you can

He’s a larger-than-life, Freedom-lovin’ Adirondack Man

Working like a dog almost every day

He’s a self-employed man trying to make his way

Kids a need a feedin’ and fields a need a seedin’

He hustles day and night, it keeps his hands a bleedin’

Got to build a barn just to stack his hay

But some EPA office rat’s a blocking his way

And an IRS thief

Stole the last of his hard-earned pay

Local yokel zoning man dashes his dreams

And the tree-huggin’, bug-lovers step on his schemes

ATF, DEC and APA

All spells liberty is slipping way

Don’t be messin’ with a mountain man

Greedy Politician better run while you can

He’s a larger-than-life, Freedom-lovin’ Adirondack Man

Everywhere you go across the USA

From the mountains on high to the shores by the bay

Tin-pot bureaucrats are signing decrees

And a snippin’ and a chippin’ at the rights of the free

Faceless dweebie bureaucrats who file away forms

You had better take heed of a building storm

‘Cause the Minute Man lives

And he ain’t gonna take much more

Mountain Man Patriot just wants to be free

So he’s dustin’ off the flag warning, “Don’t Tread On Me”

Liberty Tree might need a bloody fix

Long live the Spirit of ‘76!

Don’t be messin’ with a mountain man

Greedy Politician better run while you can

He’s a larger-than-life, Freedom-lovin’ Adirondack Man

He’s a larger-than-life, Freedom-lovin’ Adirondack Man

He’s a larger-than-life, Freedom-lovin’ All-American Man

ADRIENNE

© 1981 Rob Pulsifer

She moves so smooth and she moves so fast

Catch her now before she passes by you

This hot little number will burn right through your soul

Don’t go wild and don’t go losin’ control

Adrienne, Adrienne

She stole my heart and then she ran

Adrienne, Adrienne

I call for her again and again and again

My heart’s been draggin’, I feel so low

I don’t know what to do

I don’t know where to go

I need that girl with the fiery style

Those warm lovin’ eyes and that sultry smile

Adrienne, Adrienne

She stole my heart and then she ran

Adrienne, Adrienne

I call for her again and again and again

My heart’s been draggin’, I feel so low

I don’t know what to do

I don’t know where to go

Orient’s in rage

Chairman Mao, you’re busted

Time to turn the page

We’re sending in the man who can break through the line-ah

Shit’ll hit the fan when

Jimmy Goes to China

Celluloid dream, cheesy script in hand

Lights, Camera, Action make a marquee man

DRIVING ME HOME
© 2007 Rob Pulsifer

Don’t need no dimes
Don’t need no quarters
Don’t need no money
To buy my way home
Just need your lovin’
Sweet sweet lovin’
Shinin’ like diamonds
And Driving Me Home

Driving Me Home
Driving Me Home
Got your sweet love
Driving Me Home

When I hit the road
I’m gone for so long
I peek at your picture
It’s keepin’ me strong
Can’t wait for your lovin’
Sweet sweet lovin’
Shinin’ like diamonds
And Driving Me Home

Driving Me Home
Driving Me Home
Got your sweet love
Driving Me Home

Day after day
I dream of you standin’ right by my side
Even though the long, long road keeps me away
Minute by minute and mile after mile
I’m dreamin’ of the day
When I hold your sweet hands in mine

I know where I’m goin’
I know where I’ve been
Got blue skies above me
And a warm, gentle wind
I’m bound for your lovin’
Sweet sweet lovin’
Shinin’ like diamonds
And Driving Me Home

Driving Me Home
Driving Me Home
Got your sweet love
Driving Me Home

GET YOU OFF

© 2006 Rob Pulsifer

Red goat spewin’ takin’ over your mind

Your fingernails startin’ to bleed

Meaty Urologist examine’s you

He tries to find just what he needs

Barkin’ dogs go runnin’ wild

Foamin’ and frothin’ disease

You can say anything you want

But we really know what you mean

Labeled and labia’d, you are whipped

I’ll bet you can’t come out tonight!

We just want to

GET YOU OFF!

You can’t wait to blow your mind

We just need to

GET YOU OFF!

Peekin’ at the other side

Hey little lady, we’re watchin’ you

We see that Gene’s been in your jeans

Don’t believe all the shit they’ve been throwin’ at you

In your little mega-magazine

Back in the saddle, grab your leather straps

Big horse feels so good under you

Imagine now that the roles are reversed

Tell me babe, what would you do?

Worms and toads, they slither and slime

Just swallow it at dinner time

We just want to

GET YOU OFF!

You can’t wait to blow your mind

We just need to

GET YOU OFF!

Peekin’ at the other side

We just want to

GET YOU OFF!

You can’t wait to blow your mind

We just need to

GET YOU OFF!

Peekin’ at the other side

Grasping, gasping, heaving, breathing

Believing anything to keep from screaming

Flailing, derailing, biting, scratching

Fighting insanity - IT’S NOT WORKING!

We just want to

GET YOU OFF!

You can’t wait to blow your mind

We just need to

GET YOU OFF!

Peekin’ at the other side

HARD TIMES ARE FALLIN’

© 2008 Rob Pulsifer

Can’t you see the full moon rising

Through the leaves as they shake on the trees

Can’t you hear the moanin’ and squallin’

Of the breeze, the foreboding breeze

Can’t you feel the tide that’s climbin’

As the shoreline succumbs to the sea

Can’t you feel the tremblin’ and breakin’

As the ground cracks under your feet

Hard Times are fallin’

Can’t you hear the midnight callin’

Feels like your dreams are stallin’

Hard Times are fallin’

Hard Times are fallin’

Life in the city is takin’ you nowhere

Nowhere that you want to be

Jostlin’ and grindin’ for your place in the line

Queing up for more misery

Pundits and preachers are babblin’ away

Always got too much to say

All of this heartache that fills up your day

You gotta find a better way

Hard Times are fallin’

Can’t you hear the midnight callin’

Feels like your dreams are stallin’

Hard Times are fallin’

Hard Times are fallin’

Can’t hold back, gonna lose control

The pressure makes you just wanna scream

Find that place that can take you back

You got to grab ahold of your dreams

Hard Times are fallin’

Hard Times are fallin’

Hard Times are fallin’

Hard Times are fallin’

Can’t you see the full moon rising

Can’t you see the full moon rising

Can’t you see the full moon rising

Can’t you see the full moon rising

Hard Times are fallin’

Can’t you hear the midnight callin’

Feels like your dreams are stallin’

Hard Times are fallin’

Hard Times are fallin’

HOME FOR CHRISTMAS

© 2008 Rob Pulsifer

My memory drifts back to the snow-covered town

In the mountains where I come from

Long winding roads led me so far away

Seems I never can get back home

Mom in the kitchen and Dad by the fire

Almost all of the kids gathered ‘round

Don’t know if ever I’ll find my way back

Just know that I can’t go now

As a kid I rose early to sneak down the stairs

Spying beneath the tree

Squeezing and shaking and reading each tag

Just to see what they got for me

Mom in the kitchen and Dad by the fire

Almost all of the kids gathered ‘round

Maybe someday I’ll find my way back

Just know that I can’t go now

I’m caught in the rat race

I’m chasing the dream

But it seems that I’m living a lie

Longing for family

And the comforts of home

I’m stuck here and don’t know why

Travel commitments and places to be

When did I lose control of my days?

Cancel all my appointments and hold all my calls

I’m headed for home today

Mom in the kitchen and Dad by the fire

Yeah, all of us kids gathered ‘round

A big happy family nestled all in one place

‘Cause we’re all home for Christmas now

Mom in the kitchen and Dad by the fire

Yeah, all of us kids gathered ‘round

A big happy family nestled all in one place

‘Cause we’re all home for Christmas now

NORTHBOUND TRAIN

© 2003 Rob Pulsifer

Northbound Train

Sun blazes the horizon

Gotta see her again

Another station and no one’s waitin’

Northbound Train

Said something stupid again

She slammed down the phone

Said that she might be waitin’

Or maybe she won’t

Northbound Train

Tracks a-shakin’, hearts a-breakin

When I see her again

This time I’ll say it better

Northbound Train

Tickets please, is this just one way

Watch your step please

Never know when you may take a fall...

Northbound Train

Cast a glance out of the window

Lookin’ my way

Conductor says we’re at the station

Northbound Train

Excuse me please, I’m in a hurry

A face in the crowd

I think I see her standing there

Now...

OLD MAN

© 1984 Rob Pulsifer

Old man goes to bed every night

Scanning the years as he turns out the light

Thinkin’ what could or might have been

Had he only known better way back when

Old Man, Old Man

Lived your life just as fast as you can

Old Man, Old Man

Lived your life just as fast as you can

His memory drifts back to his younger days

With his bad reputation and his hot shot ways

No thoughts of the future or what was to come

Guess you can’t see when you’re young

Old Man, Old Man

Lived your life just as fast as you can

Old Man, Old Man

Lived your life just as fast as you can

His memory snaps back to the present day

And he wonders how he wasted his whole life away

Runnin’ wild like the shot from a gun

Guess you can’t see when you’re young

Old Man, Old Man

Lived your life just as fast as you can

Old Man, Old Man

Lived your life just as fast as you can

YOU NEVER SAID

© 2003 Rob Pulsifer

You stepped out of my car

And you hurried out of sight

Slowly I realized

you had stepped out of my life

You couldn’t say that this was the end

But you told me not to cry

You said it’s better this way

But you didn’t tell me why

You said all the right things

You played all the right strings

You touched me the way you usually do

You looked me right in the eyes

You breathed the appropriate sighs

But you never said that you loved me

Words simply flowed from you

But they never seemed to jive

Reasons for leaving

A song sung out of time

I’m the man who treats you like

The Princess that you think you are

Now my angel, you fall from the sky

Just like a shooting star

You said all the right things

You played all the right strings

You touched me the way you usually do

You looked me right in the eyes

You breathed the appropriate sighs

But you never said that you loved me

This sadness that’s come over me

Will someday fade away

The clouds now supplyin’ the rain

Will hurry out of sight

And I’ll drive down by our river

and I’ll listen to the wind

I know the echoes remain

But there’s one thing I won’t hear

You said all the right things

You played all the right strings

You touched me the way you usually do

You looked me right in the eyes

You breathed the appropriate sighs

But you never said that you loved me
